Industrial Blowers and Fans by Canada Blower Co
Industrial blowers are mainly used to circulate the movement of air and gas in ventilation applications. Their main function is to replace impure or contaminated air with fresh air by swirling it around. Almost every industry, including agricultural, chemical, medical, oil and gas, automotive, food processing, mining and construction use blowers for different purposes such as drying, reducing heat levels, reducing smoke and odors, processing and controlling gaseous fumes.
Industrial blowers are manufactured using a range of durable plastics and metals, or a combination of both materials. For example, industrial blowers operating in corrosive environments are usually made of polypropylene because it provides greater structural integrity and corrosion resistance, and will never de-laminate. Typical recommendations in the construction of industrial blowers are - fiberglass for temperatures above 220 degrees, and metal if pressure is above 10 w.g. (water gage).
The size of the blower may be regulated by the size of the environment in which it is to be operated. For instance, some units are big enough to house both the fan and its power supply. Smaller, portable blowers are mainly used for cleanups and in spaces that require temporary circulation or air transfer.
The air movement and control association recognizes three classes of industrial blowers, classified with numerical designation that is based on how the fan is constructed. The United States' specifications for industrial blowers depend on the airflow in CFM (cubic feet per minute), static pressure in inches, water gage, altitude and approximate air temperature. Here's an example:
Air conditioning can often become too large of an expense for industrial areas, but the good news is that an industrial fan can bring some much needed relief in this case. Industrial electric fans can be quite helpful for places where heat stratification, dampness, and stagnant air become frequent problems. Also, for high static pressure an industrial fan is what you need. Also known as an industrial electric blower, these units replace air as well by blowing out the old and stagnant air for a wide area that otherwise would collect this air without replenishing it in entirety.
Industrial fans also are helpful in removing pollutants like dust and metal particles, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide, sulfuric acid, and hydrocarbon solvents. Plus, industrial electric fans clearly do not use as much electricity as an air conditioner, circulating air and cooling it at a fast rate for a large space. Variable speed, OFF and full ON settings. A great little tool. The Speedster™ Fan/Blower Speed Controller Instructions 1. Before using this speed controller please read the instructions that came with your fan/blower to familiarize yourself with its operation. 2. Verify that the Speed Controller’s switch is in the OFF position. Plug the Fan/Blower’s electrical cord into the Fan/Speed Controller’s outlet. 3. Plug the Fan/Speed Controller’s electrical cord into a properly grounded 120 volt AC outlet. *** Note: Any length of grounded extension cord used with this Speed Controller must be rated for 15 Amps. 4. BE SAFE with all electrical equipment. Periodically check the electrical cords connected to the Fan/Blower Speed Controller for signs of overheating. Turn the Fan/Speed Controller OFF and unplug it from its outlet. Then check all electrical connections for corrosion (especially in areas of high humidity) and wire cords for damage. When cords get hot, a meltdown or electrical fire could result. 5. Not for use with brush-less, capacitor run or magnetic motors. Equipment damage may occur. Safety Warnings and Precautions 1. Observe Work Area Conditions: Do not operate the Fan/Blower Speed Controller in a damp location. Do not expose to rain or snow. Use approved extension cords capable of a 15amp draw. Periodically check the electrical cords connected to the Fan/Blower Speed Controller for signs of overheating. Turn the Fan/Speed Controller OFF and unplug it from its outlet. Then check all electrical connections for corrosion (especially in areas of high humidity) and wire cords for damage. When cords get hot, a meltdown or electrical fire could result. 2. Keep children away from work areas. 3. Store the Fan/Blower Speed Controller in a dry location when not in use. 4. Not for use with brush-less or magnetic motors. Equipment damage may occur. Maintenance 1. To clean the Fan/Blower Speed Controller make sure it is unplugged and detached from equipment. Wipe the unit off with a clean damp cloth. Never use chemicals or solvents. 2. If the fuse blows, you may be using a fan or blower that uses more current than the Fan/ Blower Speed Controller can deliver. Replace the fuse with a 15amp fuse. 3. Store the fan/Blower speed Controller in a clean and dry location away from insects and pests.
